An Introduction

A personal introduction to Sunset Falls Studios — who I am, why the studio exists, and the ideas I hope to turn into realities.

By Jake Miller

I imagine a proper introduction is in order.

Hi, I’m Jake Miller. I’m a software developer from the Boise area of Idaho, where I was born and raised and where I now live with my young family.

The software field I’ve recently entered is changing rapidly with the growth of AI. As I’ve begun to use these tools, they’ve broadened my skill set and made it easier for me to execute my ideas, of which I have many.

Previously, I was limited to what I physically knew how to type. AI makes writing code cheaper and easier, but system design and actually understanding software are still essential. You need to understand what you're asking AI to build, how the pieces fit together, and whether the code it produces will actually create good software that solves a real problem.

I created Sunset Falls Studios as an outlet for those ideas and for the various things I want to make: apps, software, websites, music, and games, both board games and video games.

Some of these things are problems I personally want solved. Others are ideas that come from the things I love: the world we live in, the trees and sunsets, the technology we've been given, the communities around us, the God who made it all, the systems we create, and the games we play.

Sunset Falls Studios is the umbrella for all of this. A shared place where I can pursue the different interests and talents I have, and hopefully turn some of the ideas in my head into things that actually exist.

I don't know yet what all of those things will become, or which of them other people will find interesting. That's part of the fun. I'm excited to build.

I'm glad you're here.
